Take the Atlantic coast from the Basque Country (Hendaye) to Brittany (Roscoff), draw a developed and secure cycle path that follows the Atlantic coast, and you’ll get the Vélodyssée (EuroVélo 1), one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the world. This magnificent marked route crosses Les Landes from north to south for 160 km, between Biscarrosse and Tarnos. Why is it so popular? Because it is accessible to all cycling tourists (adults and children, regular or occasional athletes) due to its low elevation gain, most sections are car-free, it guarantees a complete change of scenery in the heart of nature, and its constant proximity to the ocean makes it possible to stop and swim at any time. We have selected the most beautiful greenways in Les Landes for you:
- Chalosse Greenway (41 km): This superb inland route starts in Dax, one of the most prestigious spa towns in southwestern France. You’ll cycle east to Saint-Sever, a village known for its Saint John’s Day festivities, with the Adour river as your companion towards the end of the route. Upon your return to Dax, treat yourself to a spa treatment to relax your muscles and recharge your energy.
- Marsan and Armagnac Greenway (52.5 km): From Mont-de-Marsan, the prefecture of Les Landes, you will reach Bas Armagnac up to Gabarret.
- Biscarrosse and Parentis Lake Greenways: The Mimizan-Parentis-en-Born route (31 km) runs along the eastern shore of Lake Biscarrosse. You can stop by the lake for a water activity such as kayaking, canoeing, sailing, or stand-up paddleboarding. You can also cycle to Parentis-en-Born from Biscarrosse-Plage (26 km) and continue to Ychoux if your legs are up to the challenge (+ 11 km).
