A Classified and Protected Site

Designated a National Nature Reserve since 1981, the Courant d’Huchet is a preserved ecosystem, home to incredible biodiversity:

  • Maritime pines and century-old oaks,
  • Rare aquatic plants,
  • Migratory birds, herons, and cormorants,
  • And even typical wetland flora, unique to the region.

To protect this fragile environment, access is regulated:
No bikes, motorcycles, quads, or dogs allowed.
This helps preserve the tranquility of the site and ensures an authentic and nature-friendly experience.

Walks or Boat Trips

There are two ways to discover this natural gem:

On foot, following the marked trails that wind through gallery forest, dunes and marshes. It’s a total immersion in the heart of a changing landscape, where water, sand and vegetation blend harmoniously.

By boat, accompanied by the famous boatmen of the Courant d’Huchet.
This guided tour is a unique experience: comfortably seated, you let the current carry you along as you listen to the boatmen’s anecdotes and explanations. A true immersion in the history and ecology of the region.
