Every year in July, Mont-de-Marsan vibrates to the rhythm of the Arte Flamenco Festival, a must-attend event for all lovers of this intense and passionate dance. Since its creation in 1989 by the Landes Department, this festival has established itself as the largest celebration of flamenco outside of Spain.
Attending the Arte Flamenco Festival goes beyond simply watching a show; it is a true space for cultural exchange where the ancestral flamenco tradition blends with the influences of modern society.
Featuring dance and music performances, original world-exclusive creations, and French premieres, the Arte Flamenco Festival attracts both Andalusian culture enthusiasts and curious visitors, whether locals or those staying at our campsite in Vielle-Saint-Girons. Overview.
The Spirit of the Arte Flamenco Festival
The Arte Flamenco Festival finds its essence in the strong desire to transmit and promote the art of flamenco far beyond Spanish borders. Created in 1989 under the impetus of Henri Emmanuelli, this exceptional festival champions “pure” flamenco while embracing all new forms of artistic expression. This perfect balance between tradition and modernity, characteristic of the festival, is a vibrant tribute to Andalusia and the deep roots of flamenco.
This passion for flamenco is reflected in the selection of leading Spanish artists who perform here, such as María Pagés or Tomatito. Furthermore, each edition of the Arte Flamenco Festival also features emerging talents, often mentored by flamenco masters. This reinforces the festival’s educational and intergenerational dimension.
This festival is therefore a true cultural bridge between Mont-de-Marsan and the Andalusian lands, combining local roots and international appeal.

A Look Back at the Bold and Varied Program of the 35th Edition
For its 35th anniversary, the Arte Flamenco Festival outdid itself with a rich and diverse program. From July 1st to 6th, the public discovered four world premieres and several French premieres. Highlights included the show “Muerta de Amor” by choreographer Manuel Liñán and “Creaviva” by dancer Rafaela Carrasco, two bold and emotionally charged creations.
Additionally, for this edition, the poster was signed by Sevillian artist Patricio Hidalgo Morán, giving the festival the artistic touch that makes all the difference.
The various free shows held in Place Charles-de-Gaulle allowed festival-goers to attend performances by renowned artists such as Arcángel and La Kaita, all in a consistently friendly atmosphere.
The Arte Flamenco Festival also took over other iconic venues such as the Pôle de Saint-Pierre-du-Mont, to offer large-scale choreographic performances, and the Théâtre Le Molière for more intimate shows.
A Socially and Environmentally Committed Festival
Beyond its artistic vocation, the Arte Flamenco Festival is actively committed to making culture accessible to all, as well as to sustainable development. Thanks to various partnerships with local institutions and a series of solidarity actions, the festival annually allows audiences with limited access to culture to discover flamenco. Thus, various workshops were organized for patients at the Mont-de-Marsan hospital center, as well as workshops for children, thereby giving the event a social role.
The festival also stands out for its environmental commitment. Labeled “eco-committed event” in 2023, the Arte Flamenco Festival continues to minimize its ecological impact by offering free shuttles and responsible catering options, based on local products.
This commitment to nature-friendly tourism echoes the values of friendliness and respect for the environment upheld by Camping La Jaougotte in Vielle Saint Girons, located not far from Mont-de-Marsan.
The Arte Flamenco Festival is much more than just a cultural event: it’s a space for sharing where passion for flamenco, artistic innovation, and environmental commitment blend perfectly.
Next July, immerse yourself once again in the fascinating world of this exceptional festival during your vacation at Camping La Jaougotte and discover other activities to do with children in the Landes!
